Hialeah Gardens is a city in western Miami-Dade County, Florida, positioned just west of Hialeah and within the Miami metropolitan area of South Florida. Its population of about 23,000 makes it a midsize, predominantly residential community in one of the region's busiest urban corridors, bordered by Medley to the west and Miami Lakes to the north. The city's location at the crossroads of major expressways places it minutes from Miami International Airport and the industrial and commercial job centers of western Miami-Dade. The city's growth is closely tied to the post-1959 Cuban diaspora. As Cuban immigrants and their families settled in South Florida, farmland that had defined Hialeah Gardens gave way to dense single-family suburban neighborhoods.
